Press Release
21 October 2008 | THE CREDIT CRUNCH: LIFE ON THE STREET
Stock markets may be recovering as world leaders follow Gordon Brown's lead and bail out their banking systems. But although the headlines have been positive, at street level the credit crunch is still a fact of business life.
Turnaround specialists gathering in London for TMA (UK)'s annual conference on 13th November will hear that business finance is still tight, overheads and inflation are still soaring, consumers are still shy of spending their money, and strong entrepreneurial leadership is more critical than ever to protecting and enhancing corporate value.
Conference Director Mark Lowther said the Prime Minister's call for bold thinking in extraordinary times applied not just to business leaders but to turnaround practitioners too.
“Traditional and safe solutions can't keep up with the pace of change and the complexity of business life, particularly at the moment,” he said. “Practitioners need to explore different approaches to identifying opportunities, managing risk, and generating recovery.
“The TMA Annual Conference is subtitled Entrepreneurial Turnaround and promises a fertile environment for fresh ideas and insights, supported by high-quality presentations and workshops and opportunities for networking.”
Keynote speakers at the conference, which is being held at the Royal College of Physicians, Regents Park, will include GE Commercial Finance CEO John Jenkins, consultant and family business expert Dr Barbara Murray, and award-winning turnaround specialist Ian MacRitchie.
