TMA (UK) Annual Conference 2010: Turnaround - Are we still in Denial?
As we approach our 2010 annual conference, the magnitude of our economic and financial distress has yet to be calibrated as we realise the consequences of past policies & legal frameworks. Appropriately we chose the subject of denial as our main theme.
Before post election Britain began to face up to the big issues, regulation, deficits and public sector restructuring, we were designing our programme bearing this in mind and we organised for Dr. Vince Cable to be our inaugural speaker. However, as a newly elected Government minister, we have just been told that he will no longer be able to attend our conference. We are in the process of identifying an alternative speaker and will keep you posted!
Responding to feedback from previous conferences we keep the successful format to provide optimum learning, participation and value for money. We include two panels, one of which deals with the role of the Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) and the question of whether this role provides value for money. Panel guests include Steve Norris, David Lovett (AlixPartners), Murdoch McKillop (Talbot Hughes McKillop) and Julian Cooper (MCP) with moderator, John Willcock (Global Turnaround Magazine), as well as invited leaders from the Public Trades Unions and Civil service unions.
The other panel updates on credit and financing requirements with key players; the banking world will be platforming their current news and views concerning work out departments. The panel will handle questions regarding the new paradigms in "Special Situations" and troubled loans. Philip Long (PKF LLP) moderates and will be posing questions to Graham Rusling (Barclays), Neil Kindness (Landsbanki) and other invited panelists from the main banks.
Guy Browning, renowned speaker, BBC screen writer, wit and raconteur, will be offsetting the day's topics with his personal and unique perspective. As benefits our new era of austerity his contingency based inclusion (no smile, no fee) is designed to crisis manage any post prandial side effects.
The conference serves as a key date for networking and for the TMA to platform important news and developments from our president, Bryan Green who will be giving us some exciting updates about TMA strategy and affiliate relationships for 2010 and beyond. Remember important benefits such as the CPD accreditation for delegates - TMA members and guest alike - as well as the attractive pricing and discounts. Check out the web and book early this year.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Royal College of Physicians!
